Course Title: **How Vision, Perception and Memory are Affected by Acquired Brain Injury

*Leah Bell graduated with a BS in Health Sciences and a Masters in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman's University. She has been working at Pate Rehab for 10 years with individuals dealing with various brain injuries. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and holds a certification in Low Vision Therapy as well. Her focus on vision therapy includes rehabilitation of the visual system and improving the overall independence levels of patients dealing with visual and perceptual deficits from acquired brain injuries.
**After an acquired brain injury, a vast majority of individuals suffer from some sort of visual or perceptual impairment. These deficits can affect a person's memory production and ability to learn new information accurately. This presentation will introduce you to the anatomy of our visual and perceptual system, describe various commonly seen deficits with vision perception and describe how they affect memory and learning. It will also describe various treatment strategies to help those affected by these impairments.
