Dallas Claims Association honors Members:  Shari Macioch and Catherine Davies at the 8/6/2008 meeting.  Mike Fox, President requested a moment of silence and commented on Catherine Davies service as Secretary 2007-2008 and the attended memorial.   Diane Perkins commented on Shari Macioch's service as  President 2004-2005, to her community and the celebration of her life.   DCA will miss them and their contribution to the claims industry.  The DCA will further honor their names by designating scholarships.


Shari Macioch      1949 - 2008

ShariShari McClure Macioch passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Celebration of life: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Grapevine Elks Lodge, 909 Bushong, Grapevine.

Memorials: It was Shari's wish that memorials be made to Metro Business and Professional Women's Club, 803 Forest Ridge Drive, Suite 104, Bedford, Texas 76022.

Mrs. Macioch was recently installed as president of the Texas Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs during the annual state convention in Austin in June. BPW/Texas has been an advocate for working women since 1919, and Mrs. Macioch had a passion for promoting opportunities and career development programs for women in the workplace.

An independent property and casualty/insurance adjuster, Mrs. Macioch had been a member of BPW since 1987. She also taught defensive driving courses and was studying to become more proficient in fundraising for nonprofit organizations. She had been self-employed for many years in several successful business endeavors.

In addition, Mrs. Macioch was active in professional and community organizations, serving as a member of the Fort Worth Commission for Women, the Women's Division of Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Claims Association, the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters, the Texas Claims Association, president of the Dallas Claims Association and community relations chair of Open Arms Auxiliary Volunteers, and delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered with Christmas Providers.

Shari was a blessing to everyone who knew her with her loving, indomitable spirit and she will be terribly missed.

Survivors: Her husband of 18 years, Bob Macioch; her mother, Hazel McClure; brothers, Dwayne McClure and Darrell McClure and wife, Denise, and daughter, Michaela, all of Norman, Okla.; and stepchildren, Kris Morales of San Diego, Calif., and Kathy Bustillos of El Paso.


Catherine Canterbury Davies        1951 - 2008

CatherineCatherine Canterbury Davies, 56, born Nov. 9, 1951, in Houston, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Fort Worth.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington. Vigil service and visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial to follow in Moore Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: John Davies Jr., Scott Davies, Edward Canterbury, Colby Canterbury, Steve Allred, Joe Scott, Walter Davies III, Keith Minarik and Christopher Chimera.

Memorials: may be made to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, in care of the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Clinic.

Catherine had a long career as a paralegal and in insurance claims adjusting. She captained numerous tennis teams at Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield; she was the current president of the Fort Worth Claims Association, current officer of the Insurance Women of Dallas and a current member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Claims Association. She was also a past president of the Woman's Guild of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a past president of the Fort Worth Paralegal Association; she was also a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants with the distinction of CLA; State Bar of Texas Legal Assistants Division.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Morris Canterbury and Barbara Blythe Canterbury.

Survivors: Loving husband of 34 years, John F. Davies of Arlington; daughter, Kelly Davies Chimera of Austin; son, John F. Davies Jr. of Chicago; daughter, Lori Davies Minarik of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; son, Scott Walter Davies of Arlington; son-in-law, Christopher Chimera of Austin; son-in-law, Keith Minarik of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; grandson, Peter James Minarik of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; grandson, Luca Christopher Chimera of Austin; brothers, Gary Canterbury and Russell Canterbury; aunt, Margaret Howell.
